Kevin Poulin delivered a powerful testimony to TVA Sports that instantly validates the administrative decision made by the Montreal Canadiens today.

Marco Marciano’s arrival as Éric Raymond’s replacement is generating a lot of curiosity around the NHL.
While some are still skeptical about the Rocket’s trusted man, former goalie Kevin Poulin quickly put those concerns to rest.
The veteran didn’t hesitate to say that Marciano literally "extended his career" in the pros.
"Before working with him in 2018, I had been used to very basic methods in goaltending instruction. The profession wasn’t at the level we know today.

He showed me different angles and helped me better understand how to occupy space in front of the net. He made me realize I didn’t need to move as much by showing me exactly where the movement could stop.

He extended my career. His a true lover of the game."

- Kevin Poulin
It’s a heavy statement coming from a goaltender who’s played just about everywhere in the world.
Poulin was searching for his technical bearings when he arrived in Laval after some tougher seasons in Europe.
Marciano immediately identified the issue and adjusted his overall approach in the crease.
He taught him that economy of movement was the key to regaining consistency and success.
This "move less" philosophy allowed Poulin to enjoy an unexpected revival with the Rocket.

Marco Marciano could revive Samuel Montembeault with the Montreal Canadiens: he is a strong addition for the Canadiens and a true lover of the game, according to Poulin

Fans are now hoping to see that teaching effect carry over to the Canadiens’ No. 35.
Samuel Montembeault actually worked briefly with Marciano during his recent stint in the American League.
There was a noticeable boost in confidence from the Quebecer upon his return, which is encouraging moving forward.
The energy brought by the new coach at practice this morning clearly contrasted with the previous regime.
"From the outset, you can really see a difference in the way Marco Marciano teaches compared to Eric Raymond.

Very energetic, talkative, and expressive.

You can see it in this sequence with Samuel Montembeault."

- Patrick Guillet
Observers in Brossard indeed noted that he was very vocal and physically involved on the ice.
His dynamic style already seems to have changed the working atmosphere for the team’s masked men.
The challenge is massive, but Marciano arrives with a reputation for excellence that extends beyond Montreal.
If Kevin Poulin’s assessment is accurate, the rebuild in goal is in very good hands.
