We have a major breaking announcement out of Montreal. Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes have finally lost patience, announcing on Wednesday the immediate dismissal of goalie coach Eric Raymond.

The decision had been looming for some time amid the team's recent struggles in net. Management decided to pull the trigger in hopes of sparking a turnaround.
And that's not all.
We've also learned that Marco Marciano will take over on an interim basis until the end of the season. The trusted lieutenant of the Laval Rocket is finally getting his chance in the big leagues.
Marciano is far from a stranger within the organization. He joined the group back in 2013 as a video coach with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
He then climbed the ranks with the St. John's IceCaps in 2015 before settling in Laval starting with the inaugural 2017 season.
It's a logical promotion for someone who has worked behind the scenes with the club's prospects for nearly 13 years.

Marco Marciano brings a new philosophy to the Montreal Canadiens

With nearly 20 years of experience, the Quebec native arrives with an impressive résumé.
He cut his teeth in the QMJHL with Cape Breton, Drummondville, the Montreal Junior, and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
He was also part of Canada's national women's team staff that won Olympic gold at the 2010 Vancouver Games.
Some observers recently noted that Marciano brings a more modern approach, one better suited to the new generation, than his predecessor.
That's exactly what Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes need right now to rediscover their confidence (especially Samuel).
Dobes simply needs to find more consistency.
A change of voice had become necessary to break the negative momentum of the past few weeks.
Now it remains to be seen whether this jolt will have the desired effect on the team's performance for the remainder of the season.
See the Montreal Canadiens' official press release below to confirm the dismissal:
"Montreal Canadiens President, Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton announced on Wednesday that goalie coach Eric Raymond has been relieved of his duties. Marco Marciano will serve as interim goalie coach until the end of the season."
