Disappointing announcement for the Canadiens even before the season start

For the first time in several years, many fans and observers of the Montreal Canadiens genuinely hope to see the team surprise in 2024.
Kirby Dach will be back, the young players will have made more progress, and new, extremely talented young players will join the group.
However, despite all this, a publication has dampened the enthusiasm of many Montreal Canadiens fans.
A Disappointing Publication: Martin St-Louis' Canadiens Will Again Finish Among the Five Worst NHL Teams in 2024-2025
The new odds have just been released, the ones that are generally the most accurate and precise year after year... and they still place Montreal in the top-5 worst teams in the National Hockey League for the upcoming season.
"Caesars, DraftKings, and MGM give Montreal an average of 75.7 points for the 2024-2025 season.
Only Chicago (73.3), Anaheim (70.7), Columbus (68.7), and San Jose (63) are worse."
This is similar to the predictions that were published before the start of last season (2023-2024).
Does
Kent Hughes' failure to acquire a top-6 forward via the NHL trade market have a major impact on these results?
That's what some observers believe.
It's disappointing; it throws a slight cold shower on our optimism, but at the same time, it could be interesting to have another top-5 pick in the next NHL draft to complete this rebuild (a very promising rebuild, of course).
And what do you think, can Martin St-Louis and his men defy the odds?
Do you believe the Canadiens will be closer (in 2025) to the 1st overall pick in the draft or closer to a playoff spot?
