Crosby's Former Coach Suggests the Penguins Should Trade him and the Canadiens Could be a Possible Destination
It is obvious that this season has been a massive disappointment in Pittsburgh. The Penguins hired former Leaf Kyle Dubas as their general manager this summer and managed to swing a blockbuster for Norris winner Erik Karlsson with hopes of giving the already aging core in Pittsburgh more longevity of being able to compete. Unfortunately, the Penguins may see themselves out of the playoffs and be forced to begin a rebuild. Former Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma shared his insight on a potential rebuild and potentially seeing captain Sidney Crosby leaving the Steel City. A canadian team has been listed among suitors for the future hall of famer.
Canadiens a possible destination for Sidney Crosby
In a podcast, former head coach Dan Bylsma dropped a bombshell regarding the future of Crosby in Pittsburgh.
"We saw Wayne Gretzky move from Edmonton. So the answer is, it can happen. But I have a hard time picturing anything but a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey on Sidney Crosby.. He's still playing at such a high level. He's still one of the best players in the game. In my heart I just feel that keeps going with the Penguins."
Although he mentions the unlikeliness of that happening, the fact a credible source mentioned it as a possibility gives fans around the league some excitement.
NHL analytic expert, JFresh Hockey dropped a bombshell of a tweet linking the Montreal Canadiens with Sidney Crosby.
sid's never getting traded but if he did only colorado or montreal would be remotely acceptable
Can you imagine how much the young core in Montreal would benefit with the presence and pedigree of Sidney Crosby? If I am Kent Hughes I will do my due diligence and at least ask Kyle Dubas about the possibility of acquiring the Penguins captain.
A possible trade could look like this:
TRADE PROPOSAL
Montreal Receives: Sidney Crosby
Pittsburgh Receives: 2025 1st round pick, Alex Newhook, Joshua Roy and a 2026 2nd round pick
Hefty price for a spectacular player, win/win!
