We were awaiting official confirmation from the family, but as of today, we can unfortunately report that Mr. Thiffault has passed away at the age of 87.
The reactions have been numerous, and it's clear just how much of an impact he had in the world of hockey.
Death of Charles Thiffault: Reactions Are Pouring In
Mr. Thiffault was a former assistant coach in the National Hockey League, a former member of the Montreal Canadiens, and more recently, he served as the president of the Sherbrooke Sports Hall of Fame selection committee.
"Now he's at peace and no longer suffering, so that gives me some comfort," said his close friend and former dean of the Faculty of Physical Activity Sciences at the University of Sherbrooke, Paul Deshaies.

The first person to give Charles Thiffault a chance was none other than Michel Bergeron, who named him assistant coach of the Quebec Nordiques, and later, the New York Rangers.
He went on to have a remarkable career in the hockey world, forging his own path.
Since the sad news broke, tributes have been coming in from all over.
We would like to join in by offering our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Thiffault.
One of his close friends spoke in an interview this morning on Radio-Canada and confirmed what everyone is saying right now: Charles Thiffault was an extraordinary person and a cornerstone of hockey in Quebec.
This morning's interview should be available soon on the Radio-Canada website for those who are interested, I highly recommend it.
