The young Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Arber Xhekaj, made an important statement about his future with the organization.
In the eighth episode of the series on the Canadiens' rebuild, Xhekaj mentioned on camera that he wants to stay with this team «as long as he plays in the NHL.»
This says a lot about his love for the city of Montreal.
Now, if he is sent down to the Laval Rocket, could his opinion change? It's possible, but the main point here is that he loves playing here.
Things are getting tricky for Arber and the Habs.

It's a complex situation because Xhekaj loves Montreal, and Montreal loves Xhekaj. But at the same time, the Sheriff will certainly want to play for an organization that lets him play 82 games a season.
For now, Martin St-Louis clearly sees Arber Xhekaj as his 7th defenseman, having been sidelined for the last two games and not played since
Jayden Struble's return. That says a lot.
