In the last few minutes, it was announced that a young offensive defenseman is leaving the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Miguel Tourigny, who has always been solid at scoring points from the blue line, has finally decided to continue his career in Europe.
He was a prospect to consider for the Montreal Canadiens, but especially for the Laval Rocket, and he was still young.
Miguel Tourigny signs in Slovakia
In short, we wish him the best of luck in the future.
«This morning, it was announced that Tourigny signed a deal in Slovakia with Vlci Zilina in the Extraliga. This will be his second stint there.»
Obviously, the strong congestion of young defensemen within the Montreal Canadiens organization most likely weighed in the decision.
Certainly, this is a significant loss for the Trois-Rivières Lions, who lose their quarterback on defense.
Miguel Tourigny, aged 22, is a right-shot defenseman, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 170 pounds, from Victoriaville.
A 7th-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2022 draft, he scored 38 points in 61 games last season with the Trois-Rivières Lions.
He also recorded a solid 80 points in his last season in the QMJHL. (80 points in 65 games from the blue line)
Have a great 2024-25 season, Miguel Tourigny!
