We talk a lot about the Montreal Canadiens rebuild, which could end with the acquisition of a star player like Jonathan Huberdeau or Pierre-Luc Dubois, but there's another team in the Tricolore's division that could make a big splash.
Without making too much noise, the Buffalo Sabres have made considerable progress in their rebuild and now have some very interesting pieces, such as Alex Tuch, Victor Olofsson, Casey Mittelstadt, Tage Thompson, Dylan Cozens, Peyton Krebs, Jack Quinn, Owen Power, Rasmus Dahlin, Jiri Kulich, Noah Ostlund, Matthew Savoie, Isak Rosen, JJ Peterka.
Next year, after possibly adding another very promising youngster (from the 2023 draft), they will probably want to finish their rebuild and they could do so by hitting a home run:
"The Sabres aren't going to trade youth and picks, to acquire Patrick Kane, but their plan is to be very aggressive about signing him next summer, when he tests the free-agent market." - Andrew Peters As for Kane, he has often mentioned that the city of Buffalo really deserves a winning team and that it is a passionate, underrated fan base that deserves more wins.
Why not take matters into his own hands? Remember, Patrick Kane is from Buffalo!
Kane, 33, had 92 points in 78 games with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021-22.
We'll have to keep an eye on this one, but the star player from Buffalo could really end up with the Sabres next year. That would be quite a home run for this city and it would be a great story.
