However, he's not the only general manager across the NHL to be on the phone to complete trades and as reported by J.B. Gagné of GoHabsGo, that's currently the case for Lou Lamoriello with the New York Islanders.
Like Hughes, Lamoriello also has several issues to deal with, including defenseman Noah Dobson who is a compensated free agent, and Kevin Weekes had reported last week that as many as four trades were in the works with the Islanders. But according to Stefan Rosner of NYI Hockey Now, there may very well be more than that.
Obviously the communication channel between Lamoriello and Hughes is very good since the transaction that sent Alexander Romanov to New York and it would not be surprising if the two formations could move again in the coming days.
Among the Islanders players who could change address, we find Oliver Wahlstrom and Quebec forward Anthony Beauvillier, whose name has been associated with the Canadiens in the past (notably by informant David Pagnotta).
It is unknown if the Islanders will complete several trades in the coming weeks, but it will be interesting to watch this file because like his counterpart, Kent Hughes will have to move if he hopes to achieve his goal of saving money before the start of next season.
