We had two announcements in the last few minutes regarding the NHL waivers.
First, a surprise. After being acquired just 24 hours ago in a trade by the Pittsburgh Penguins, coming from the Vancouver Canucks, young forward Karel Plasek is already placed on waivers by his new organization.
Unconditional waivers!
Plasek, 23 years old, is a forward drafted in the 6th round in 2019. He scored 25 points over the last two seasons in his homeland and played 8 games in the AHL. He was at the World Junior Hockey Championship in 2019.
Finally, please also note that goaltender Keith Kinkaid, placed on waivers yesterday by the New Jersey Devils, was NOT claimed.
The verdict is thus in.
It's an interesting verdict for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, who will eventually have to make a big decision regarding goaltender Cayden Primeau and waivers.
Kinkaid, 34 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound goaltender.
He has a career save percentage of 0.905 in the NHL, an average of 2.91, and a record of 70-58-21. (in 169 games)
He was very solid last season in the AHL. (0.918 save percentage).
