Tragedy: an 11-year-old young hockey player died following an accident during a hockey practice
We must share the news that we hoped we would never have to share...
The young hockey player who received a puck to the throat in Saint-Eustache has unfortunately passed away.
We are absolutely speechless.
See the terrible official statement.
See TVA's report of the events.
"A young 11-year-old hockey player received a puck to the throat during a practice session on Tuesday at the Saint-Eustache arena.
The tragic accident occurred around 7 p.m., while a few parents were in the stands of one of the Walter-Buswell complex's rinks. Under circumstances that need to be clarified, the teenager was accidentally hit in the throat by a puck shot by a teammate".
Local police have also released a statement:
"Tuesday evening, during hockey practice, an 11-year-old boy was accidentally hit by a puck while participating in a regular exercise," police said. "It is with regret that we were informed of the child's death."
It's a sadness absolutely beyond words.
