As we reported earlier today, the Montreal Canadiens have just concluded a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks:
As my colleague Alex Desrosiers well points out, there is another part to this deal.
In addition to Nicolas Beaudin, another player from the Rockford IceHogs (Chicago's school club) is coming to the CH organization.
Another part of the deal that is not mentioned is that forward Riley McKay is coming to Laval and then Trois-Rivières.
"The Laval Rocket announced that they have acquired forward Riley McKay from the Rockford Icehogs. He will report to the Trois-Rivières Lions."
In addition to Beaudin, Riley McKay also lands on the Canadiens' roster. He will visibly take Cam Hillis' place, and so, one can almost conclude that Kent Hughes added a 2018 first-round pick "for free." Still!
