In recent weeks, the name of defender Jakob Chychrun has been circulating through the other 31 formations of the Bettman circuit. The Coyotes shared their intentions regarding the young 23-year-old defenseman and this sparked interest from several teams.
However, according to Darren Dreger, the "reputable" insider for TSN network, the Coyotes would ask for an astronomical price to get rid of Chychrun, so much so that it made several general manager winced.
He even argues that the price requested would be similar to the one of Jack Eichel, traded earlier this season at the Golden Knights by the Buffalo Sabres. Recall that the Sabres got forwards Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs (1st round pick in 2019) as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks.
So we understand that the Coyotes are not in a hurry to exchange their young back. Chychrun had its best season last year, scoring 18 goals, a top for a defensemen, while picking up 23 assists.
The Canadiens has also been linked to the Coyote defenseman in recent weeks. However, if that is the price to pay, it would be surprising to see Jeff Gorton enter into such a transaction.
What would you pay to acquire Jakob Chychrun?
