Everyone is talking about Zibanejad, Panarin, Fox and Kreider on the New York Rangers' side. However, they are very well supported offensively by Ryan Strome.
The 28-year-old center is currently in the final year of his contract, earning $4.5 million per season. A salary increase may be in Strome's plans when it comes time to negotiate. However, the Rangers are starting to pile up big contracts on their roster, which could prevent Strome from staying on to extend his stay in New York.
According to Steve Greeley, Strome could command a salary of $5.65 million over seven years in his next contract. A sum that the Rangers might be reluctant to pay.
Perhaps a team like the Montreal Canadiens could be interested in his services next summer, who knows? Jeff Gorton knows him very well, so that's a plus.
The Habs will also need a second quality center and Strome would be the perfect candidate. With a center line of Nick Suzuki, Ryan Strome, Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans, the Habs would be in business for years to come. This is all speculation, of course.
