The Canadiens have just confirmed a major rumor regarding Logan Mailloux
In yesterday's press conference following Jeff Petry's trade to the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens' General Manager Kent Hughes confirmed significant information regarding the young Logan Mailloux.
Recall that Renaud Lavoie reported at the beginning of the summer that Mailloux was going to meet with Gary Bettman in the month of July, but later, other sources revealed that Bettman would only meet with Mailloux when the Canadiens made the request (meaning when he would have real chances of playing in the NHL).
In short, the meeting has officially taken place! This is what Kent Hughes confirmed in a press conference over the past few hours.
"An indication that Montreal Canadiens' organization defenseman Logan Mailloux is gradually approaching the professional ranks, he met with National Hockey League (NHL) commissioner Gary Bettman in July, and a decision is expected regarding the continuation of his career." - TVA Sports
It's a significant step for the young player. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that Bettman will give his approval for Mailloux to play in the National Hockey League.
Furthermore, Hughes also quickly added that Commissioner Bettman has still not made his official decision regarding the defenseman.
A case to follow, but know that the meeting has taken place!
