In the past few hours, overnight, following the loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs live from the Bell Centre, the Canadiens announced more cuts.
Things are getting serious!
Five players have once again been cut, including a surprise.
«The Canadiens have assigned J. Dobes, R. Kidney, S. Farrell, and W. Trudeau to the Laval Rocket, while D. Reinbacher has been loaned to HC Kloten in Switzerland.»
- Montreal Canadiens
In the case of Dobes, Kidney, Farrell, and even Reinbacher, it was expected, but it's surprising to see William Trudeau already being cut.
Many experts believed he was on track to be the surprise player and be the "Arber Xhekaj 2023", i.e., the surprise player who makes the roster.
At the very least, people thought he would stay a bit longer in the training camp, but no.
Trudeau will therefore have to join the Laval Rocket, but one thing's for sure, he made quite an impression! He really seems to be becoming a solid NHL defenseman.
Martin St-Louis will therefore have a more complete and competitive lineup for the last two preseason games.
The lines are really starting to take shape. Stay tuned!
