The CH has just published an important official clarification concerning Roy and Beck
In the past few days, we've seen something out of the ordinary with the Montreal Canadiens, as young Owen Beck was rushed back from the junior ranks, and he made his NHL debut much earlier than expected.
He did well last night.Beck was then immediately returned to the junior ranks after yesterday's game against the Ottawa Sens.
An official CH clarification.
As reported by reporter Simon-Olivier Lorange, the CH did indeed provide the following clarification:
"A few clarifications from the Habs on the recall of Owen Beck:
- We wanted a center since Suzuki-Dach-Dvorak were uncertain cases.
- Joshua Roy was considered, but the Sherbrooke Phoenix were playing 3 games from Friday to Sunday.
[...]
- The Peterborough Petes (OHL) did not play Friday and Saturday.
- The Laval Rocket was playing in Cleveland on Friday, so it was a very difficult connection for a late callback.
- The proximity of Peterborough made things easier.
You know everything."

Here it is.
So Beck was picked ahead of Joshua Roy because he's a center and because it worked better logistically, but the young Roy was really considered by the Habs (for an emergency recall)
We also note another important element: Suzuki-Dach-Dvorak were really uncertain cases for yesterday's game. They are therefore inconvenienced by small injuries. A file to follow.
