As just reported by the excellent Marco Normandin from HABSolumentFan, a young player from the Montreal Canadiens may have actually played his last game in the CH organization.
So why might it be over for Ylonen in Montreal?
Recently, Anthony Marcotte, official commentator for the Laval Rocket games, suggested that Ylonen's future with the CH is far from assured.
"With Jesse Ylönen, has he shown enough to secure his spot? I'm a little less convinced. Will he be granted a contract or will he be let go? Are we at a crossroads with Jesse Ylönen? Maybe."
Basically, Ylonen absolutely wants to play in the NHL, and we can understand that, especially since he has shown he is capable of doing so.
However, will he have to do it elsewhere?
He belongs in the NHL, but does he belong with the Montreal Canadiens? The question certainly deserves to be asked, and if a team like the Arizona Coyotes offers him a bigger role, he could certainly be tempted.
Ylonen, 23, was the 35th overall pick of the CH in 2018. He collected a solid 16 points in 37 games this season with the Habs.
He is a restricted free agent and he was actually born in Arizona.
