With the imminent departure of current club captain Shea Weber, the organization will need to find a replacement for next season. It seems, according to what was reported on 98.5 FM by the club's GM, Kent Hughes, that discussions on this subject have begun.
Hughes said that the next captain is already with the CH. He wants to see what kind of roster he will have for next season and what the club's leadership needs are before he names him. The GM said he took advantage of Shea Weber's presence in town to discuss the subject with him.
Weber gave his opinion:
"Yeah we talked to Shea, we talked to several players. Not just Shea, but we took advice from several to really get the pulse of the whole room." - Kent Hughes
So we can think that the next to wear the "C" on his jersey will be one of the club's current players: Nick Suzuki, Brendan Gallagher or Joel Edmundson. Unless a surprise player, whose impact in the locker room we do not know completely, is elected.
For those who think that Patrice Bergeron will land in Montreal, let's remember that the chances are very low and that he will most likely end his career in Boston.
