Despite not having a great start to the season, Joel Edmundson's name is often brought up as to a potential trade and as reported by my colleagues at Rumorsandtransaction.com, No. 44 has a good chance of changing addresses, by the trade deadline.
At least that's what tipster Eric Engels said in a recent article on Sportsnet. According to him, several teams will be interested in his services in the coming weeks.
Although he still has one year left on his contract next season, his experience could increase his value, and as we know, he has been to two Stanley Cup finals, in the last four seasons, in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues and, of course, the Canadiens in 2021.
Another point that could make Engels believe that Kent Hughes will seek to trade his defenseman, is that it would also allow the Habs to make room for young players, within the defensive brigade. We can think of Justin Barron and Logan Mailloux, among others.
Serious development.
There are still several weeks to go before the trade deadline but, it is a safe bet that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will be greedy in their demands for Joel Edmundson. As we know, the Habs GM is often able to get the maximum value in a deal.
