Newly retired at the age of 26, due to numerous injuries, Flyers D-man Samuel Morin posted a touching message on his Instagram account.

Here it is:

Well, this is it... hockey will always be a part of my life, this is the beginning of a new chapter. I want to take a minute to thank all the Flyers fans who have sent me messages over the past few days. They are truly the best fans in hockey. To my teammates, these past two years, I couldn't have made it without you...thank you. To the medical and conditioning staff who spent countless hours in the gym to get me back on the ice, thank you! To all the coaches who coached me through my playing career, thank you for everything. And of course, thank you to my family who was there for me no matter what. Playing in the NHL is a privilege and I am proud to have done it. Take care.
