In a press conference last night after his team's win against the Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis announced the following
"Martin St-Louis confirmed that
Cayden Primeau will get the start against the Flyers on Tuesday." - Montreal Canadiens
So that's to say, just hours after being officially recalled by the big club, Primeau gets a start!
In his last 9 games in the AHL, he has a 2.33 GAA and a .924 efficiency rating. Solid!
In the NHL, he has a 3-10-2 record and a .873 career save percentage.
A slap in the face for Montembeault
Whatever the reason, it's clear that it can't make Sam Montembeault super happy to have to skip his turn, to make room for the young Primeau.
The goaltending rotation looks interesting for the rest of the season, and Quebec goaltender Montembeault is likely to get the axe if Primeau gets any starts.
Do you like this decision?
By the way, journalist Arpon Basu has an interesting point on this subject:
"The Canadiens' game in Philadelphia tomorrow is a four-point game of sorts. Cayden Primeau gets the start..."
If he does well, will he play the next game? What about the other one? That will be interesting to watch.
