Now that the 2021-2022 NHL regular season is officially over, many players are thinking about their future in the league and on a contractual level, especially those with expiring contracts.
This is notably the case for former Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban.
Because yes, it is finally this summer that the huge eight-year contract signed by Subban with the Habs in August 2014 ends. (Eight-year contract worth $9 million annually).
He just posted a long message, in which he thanks the Devils fans and organization. All this, accompanied by several photos of his three-season stay in New Jersey.
"I don't have enough space here to write and express how much my teammates and staff have meant to me here in New Jersey. As you know, I love you all and it was truly special to play and work with all of you! If this is the end, I hope it was just as special for you guys! For life!" - P.K. Subban
The great class P.K., true to form.
Following this publication, the reactions are numerous and it seems to indicate that Subban should therefore be part of a fourth organization at the beginning of next season. It seems to be a nice announcement to start with.
If we also rely on his press conference at the end of the season, in front of the New Jersey media, it said it all! It really seems to be over for him there.
Of course, let's remember that he also wore a Nashville Preds uniform from 2016 to 2019. (following a highly publicized trade with the Canadiens)
In a more limited role and with a lower salary, Subban will certainly find takers in the NHL, when the autonomous player market opens. Would you like him to sign in Montreal?
