Monster statement regarding a trade involving Sidney Crosby

Personally, I find Brunet's comment rather ironic and I'll explain why. Often, journalists will criticize athletes for not having a sense of loyalty towards their teams. They will even sometimes call them mercenaries.

Why trade Crosby when he has given so many years to the city of Pittsburgh? Some would say that since Wayne Gretzky was traded, any player in the league can be traded.

That being said, even if it may have been time to trade Sid The Kid, from a loyalty standpoint of a team versus the player and the fans, I would keep Crosby like the Wings kept Yzerman. And today it's rather rare to see an athlete who has only played for their original team.

We want loyalty from players on our team, but as soon as they seem to slow down, many fans want to trade them, as seen here with Brendan Gallagher as an example!
