Although he had a much less flamboyant second half of the season than the first, it's safe to say that Nick Suzuki has become a top center for the Habs.
He leads the team in points again this season, but the Cole Caufield injury has taken a toll on him and his production has suffered in recent weeks.
However, it seems that Kirby Dach's return to the lineup has given him some breathing room and he has picked up four points in the last two games, two of which were on goals by #77.
While Dach may be considered the team's second center for now, one former NHL coach made a statement about Dach and let's just say it could hurt Captain Suzuki's pride.
Speaking on BPM Sports, Bob Hartley said he wouldn't be surprised if Kirby Dach surpassed Nick Suzuki as the organization's top center in the near future.
"I love him, Nick Suzuki. But I'm telling you, Kirby Dach's potential and what I see from him right now, depending on his curve, give me a year and a half, two years, there's a chance Dach is ahead of Suzuki. Then that would be a happy problem."
Wow, so Kirby Dach could become the Habs' new #1 center. That would be big for the club! Imagine Suzuki as the second center!
Although some Canadiens fans might be shocked by Hartley's comments, it's been a while since the Habs have had two quality young centers in their organization and even if Dach were to surpass Suzuki, that's good news in a way.
It's a sign that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton's rebuilding plan is going well and it's also worth mentioning that there are other young centre players knocking on the door that would bring even more depth in the years to come.
