We were telling you in the last few minutes about Geoff Molson's appearance today, specifically discussing the injury issues within his organization.
The Montreal Canadiens' head honcho also made a statement regarding a possible contract extension for Cole Caufield, and it seems to be clearly imminent.
"It's a good question for Jeff and Kent," he replied with a smile. "It can happen anytime. I won't tell you to stay close to your phone today, but you never know when it will happen," said Geoff Molson.
Knowing that he is undoubtedly aware of the negotiations, it's very encouraging. He continues :
"I know all our fans can't wait for it to be settled. It will be done before the start of the next season. The negotiations are in good hands with Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes."
So it will happen, let's not be worried. The most interesting sentence is certainly the following: "It will be done before the start of the next season."
That's all we were hoping for.
Recall that Caufield is currently a restricted free agent seeking a new contract.
Before injuring his shoulder, he had amassed 36 points, including 26 goals, in 46 games during the 2022-23 season.
