While the Habs have seen their payroll problem sorted out with the injury to Carey Price, there is still a lot of work for Kent Hughes to do between now and the start of the team's training camp in a month.

The Habs currently find themselves with too many forwards on the roster, and as J.B. Gagné of GoHabsGo.com reports, one of them may very well be moving on soon.

According to tipster Marc D'Amico, it wouldn't be surprising if the forward sacrificed by Kent Hughes was Evgeny Dadonov, just acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights in return for Shea Weber's contract.

Without having played a single game with the Habs, Dadonov would be the ideal candidate for a trade, as it is likely that the 2022-2023 season will be his only one in a tricolour uniform and he could be interesting for some teams looking to reach the salary cap.

Dadonov will be paid $5 million this season and Kent Hughes could very well pass on him to another team in order to get some defensive reinforcements. The 33-year-old had 43 points, including 20 goals in 78 games last year with the Golden Knights, but if Hughes were to trade him, it would not be surprising if he had to withhold some of his salary to make him more attractive to other NHL teams.
