In the last few hours, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Jonathan Huberdeau's agent, Allan Walsh, have both announced that Huberdeau had an important meeting yesterday in Montreal with his new general manager.
Brad Treliving (Flames GM), actually flew to Montreal to have dinner with his new player. His goal is clearly to try to convince him to sign a long-term contract in Calgary.
A very important meeting.
Let's remember that Huberdeau will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2023. (next summer) He will have the option to become free as a bird, to offer his services to all 32 NHL teams and sign the contract of his choice.
"Jonathan Huberdeau had a really nice dinner with Flames general manager Brad Treliving on Monday night. Kudos to Brad for taking the time to travel to Montreal to meet Jonathan to spend time together and get to know each other." - Allan Walsh
This will be an interesting one to watch, especially since if Huberdeau becomes free as a bird next summer, expect to see Kent Hughes and the CH in the running.
More details to follow!
