Jonathan Drouin completely ignored by his coaches: an unpublished photo taken last night is all over the web
Unfortunately, the story that undoubtedly attracted the most attention yesterday during the match between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning was the one involving Quebec forward Jonathan Drouin.
Would he play, or not? Would he be benched for one period? Two periods? Three periods?
We now know the answer, but we received an extremely high number of questions on this topic during the game.
In short, a photo began circulating on the web, providing the answer right at the beginning of the game.
It could have been extremely useful for sports bettors, to say the least.
Here's the photo in question:
As reported by our colleagues at DansLesCoulisses, it's a photo taken at the Montreal Canadiens' bench last night when a fan spotted Trevor Letowski's game sheet (which was placed on the wrong side). It allowed us to see that Jonathan Drouin was not even included in the CH lineup on the coaches' sheets.
It's extremely rare to see this, but it provided the answer. In the eyes of the coaches, Drouin was not an option and was not in uniform.
"We see a hole in the center of the fourth line, where he was supposed to play."
