For now, the Montreal Canadiens will continue with Dominique Ducharme, who will certainly finish the season. However, if Jeff Gorton doesn't get the ball rolling, Ducharme could lose his job during the summer.
Then, if Ducharme is gently let go, the ideal candidate would be Benoit Groulx, who is now on his way out. Groulx is already in his 6th season as head coach of the Syracuse Crunch and has a winning record with the team.
This would be the perfect time to steal an important member of the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, don't you think?
Groulx has quite a resume, as he was for a long time the head man with the Gatineau Olympiques. With that organization, he won three championships and he allowed Claude Giroux to become a great leader with a speech about Maxime Talbot, who played injured to win big.
On top of that, despite his grumpy face, he is exceptional with the youngsters, being able to bring out the best in each of these young individuals. Yes, Ducharme is a great teacher for the youngsters, but if the team doesn't get better, Jeff Gorton will move quickly.
Groulx, a candidate and a name to remember for a future position with the Montreal Canadiens.
