The rumor has been circulating for a few days, but it is now 100% official and confirmed.
After Gatorade, Adidas is ending its association with the National Hockey League.
A new slap in the face for Commissioner Gary Bettman, who loses a second major sponsor in a few weeks.
A bad news for the finances and for the negotiating power of the league:
"BREAKING NEWS : @adidas will not return as the NHL's official uniform and apparel supplier when its contract expires after the 2023-2024 season, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN & @wyshynski." - hockey Jerseyz
Another sponsor is likely to raise its hand, but it will definitely be a lower-paying contract, and besides, generally speaking, it's never good for a league (and its image) to lose big partners like that.
No more green Gatorade bottles, no more Adidas jerseys (as of 2024)
More details will follow.
