Former CH Member Reveals the Other Player Hughes Nearly Drafted in the 5th Spot, and It's Not Michkov
Last night, the Montreal Canadiens finally released their highly anticipated behind-the-scenes documentary video about the 2023 NHL Draft, and we particularly see (partly) what led to the selections of David Reinbacher and Jacob Fowler.
Many fans were very curious to see how the discussions went regarding the generational talent Matvei Michkov, to see how they came to a consensus to overlook him, and in this regard, the video gave us a hint.
However, according to the former Montreal Canadiens scout Grant McCagg, the final decision wasn't even between Michkov and Reinbacher.
"I think he was talking about Michkov in that clip. I also believe their final decision came down to either Leonard or Reinbacher."
