Yesterday, we learned that the Sharks have placed the name of forward Evander Kane on the unconditional waivers in order to buy out his contract.
Unsurprisingly, Kane and his $7 million payroll were not claimed. His contract was therefore terminated by the California organization. Thus, Kane will not be entitled to touch the remaining $23 million on his contract.
In addition, the NHLPA will file a grievance against Kane.
Remember that Kane violated the AHL's COVID-19 protocol, having played five games with the Sharks' training club.
It's not an understatement to say that he is in big trouble.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman, teams are lining up to acquire his services.
To be continued...
An Evander Kane, who is an excellent hockey player, could bring a lot of money in terms of hockey. However, he is clearly a poison in a locker room.
It was never the hockey player that was the problem in his case, but rather his off-ice shortcomings.
There were many rumors about Kane making bets against his own team, something that was denied by the main interested party... Does this give you an idea of the character?
What will be the outcome of this VERY controversial hockey player?
Will any team give him another chance in the NHL?
