In a press conference in the final minutes after the team's morning practice, Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki was asked about Carey Price's courageous testimony, which was revealed earlier this morning by journalist Arpon Basu.

Carey confided, via a major article just published by The Athletic, that he decided to seek help, in 2021, for an alcohol problem.
He had never mentioned it before, but he just said it publicly. It was indeed for an alcohol problem that he had to enter the NHL player assistance program. What a tremendous show of courage.
"Substance abuse is a very big issue in First Nations communities. I have friends and family members who have died from it. So I could have done this in private. No one would have ever known.

But at the end of the day, I figured if I faced it, I could set an example and show that it's okay to ask for help."

A powerful and major testimony. On that note, see what Captain Suzuki had to say:
"In light of The Athletic's article where Carey Price spoke openly about battling alcoholism, captain Nick Suzuki was asked about it this morning and said Price didn't go into detail when he spoke to the team before entering the player assistance program last year." - Reported by Priyanta Emrith

So the players didn't know any more than we did, but they finally found out later.
"He came in and talked with the team, but didn't go into detail, but later we found out why and we wanted to be there to support him as much as possible..." - Nick Suzuki, reported by Priyanta Emrith

In any case, let's really emphasize how brave and remarkable it is for Carey Price to speak out like this. It can inspire many people!
