This makes perfect sense considering we're talking about a 25 year old player with very high potential.
The Habs general manager has openly mentioned that this is exactly the kind of trade he is looking for. (Acquire a talented player at a low price)
The evidence is mounting and in the last few hours, two sources have suggested that the team that acquires Boeser would make a big splash. Why? Because the Canucks are absolutely considering receiving "bad" returns on certain players, including Boeser, just to make room.
Really interesting!
So basically we know that 1) Kent Hughes is interested in Boeser 2) the Canucks are willing to possibly receive bad returns in exchange for Boeser.
This is promising and seems to confirm the following information:
Would you do it? We would, but obviously we would have to trade another player eventually, like Joel Edmundson or Evgenii Dadonov or Mike Hoffman or another player with a similar salary.
Boeser, 25, is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound winger who was drafted in the first round in 2015. He has one of the best shots in the entire NHL and his potential is huge. We're talking about a player who produced at a rate of 40 goals per 82 games in his rookie season with the Canucks.
Clearly, by making this acquisition, Kent Hughes could make a big splash and that's quite an opportunity. Something to watch, but that's obviously easier said than done.
