According to reports from Elliotte Friedman, Brady Tkachuk's clan would like nothing to do with a long-term contract. The winger is reportedly looking for a short-term pact, to have the opportunity to get more money, considering the salary cap increase in a few years.

Tkachuk is said to be looking to sign long term in the future, while having a bigger financial opportunity...

Remember that Tkachuk has often been mentioned as the next captain of the Ontario team. However, looking at his way of thinking, can we really consider him as a real team player? Some players prefer to take salary cuts in order to have a competitive team in the long run. That doesn't seem to be the case with the American forward...

Eugene Melnyk had stated that the next Senators captain would be a player with a long term contract with the organization. If Tkachuk were to sign a short-term contract, he would most likely have to give up the letter "C" on his number 7 jersey. Thomas Chabot would officially become the top candidate for the title.

It will be very interesting to see how this story unfolds. With the recent signing of Elias Pettersson, one would have thought that would have unlocked some things in the Tkachuk file, but to no avail. His desire to get money seems bigger than his desire to be with his teammates, obviously...
