With his two-goal, two-assist performance in Canada's 6-2 semi-final win over the United States, Joshua Roy became the all-time leading Quebec scorer at the World Junior Hockey Championship, tied with Jonathan Huberdeau.
And with his masterful assist in the grand final, he broke the record all by himself!
Speaking on 98.5, Stéphane Julien praised the merits of the Quebec forward and let's just say that it bodes well for Habs fans.
Joshua is one of the players with the highest hockey sense that I've known as a coach at the junior level. His touch around the net is incredible.
What I like about Josh, he's perfect for Montreal. He's a guy who is not nervous with the puck. He's a guy who is able to go out and get big goals in big moments.
I'm not worried that we're going to see him with the Habs."
As we know, Roy was a fifth-round pick of the CH in the 2021 NHL draft and is the late pick among Canada's players.
Will we see him on the ice at the Bell Centre next year?
It's hard to say for now because despite his excellent performance at this year's World Junior Championship, there are some youngsters who are probably above him in the hierarchy of the Habs' top prospects. We can think of his teammate
Owen Beck with the Canadian team for example.
However, there is a good chance that thanks to his performance at this year's world championship, Roy will be in the spotlight when the next training camp opens in September.
