Remember that "MAF" was traded to Chicago a few days ago in exchange for goalie Mikael Hakkarainen. Since then, Fleury was not sure what his future would be in the NHL, due to family reasons. He had found a new home with the Vegas Golden Knights since 2017, but he obviously embraced this new challenge of joining the Chicago Blackhawks.
The most recent recipient of the Vézina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender in the NHL, will come to support the young Kevin Lankinen. The Hawks will have more than a respectable goaltending tandem next year with these two. Chicago had very little success over the past seasons, so Stan Bowman wanted to give his team a boost by acquiring an experienced goalie like Fleury.
