Arber Xhekaj has just broken the silence, he sends a huge message and he will not be returning to the Canadiens so quickly
As you know, yesterday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens took us by surprise by announcing the demotion of young Arber Xhekaj to the AHL, with the Laval Rocket.
A decision that caused a lot of reactions.
Today, it was the turn of the main person concerned to react:
Arber Xhekaj on the Habs' decision to send him to the AHL:
"It was a bit of a surprise.. from their point of view, it made sense. They want to see me play a lot of minutes and develop my game." - Arber Xhekaj
Most likely, he will indeed not be returning to the Canadiens as quickly as that.
"It looks like Arber will be in Laval for a while." - HFTV
This actually coincides with what Martin St-Louis seemed to mention in a press conference.
Xhekaj also admitted to being disappointed, but not defeated:
"Obviously it's hard, no one likes to go down, but I'm here now and can only go up. There's a good group of players, and I met many of them when I came back this summer." - Arber
As for the duration of his stay in Laval, there really isn't a time limit:
"I wasn't given a deadline, I was just told it was coming and he needed to improve." - J-F Houle
