Do you know Riley Tufte, a 1st round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2016? The young man has only two NHL games under his belt, living mainly on his AHL salary.
Tufte is a Minnesota native and the Stars, formerly based in Minnesota, were at the Wild's home Thursday night. To spice up the night, the Stars used a nice graphic of Tufte on Twitter to push this story to the max - a Minnesota native playing a Game 1 at home.
Tufte was so motivated, he paid for as many tickets as he could for his family. So much so, that he ran out of money and Nick Bjugstad had to "back" him so he could invite everyone... A beautiful story, so far, right?
But this beautiful tale was shattered by the Stars' head coach, Rick Bowness, who decided to scratch Tufte from the lineup at the last minute at the end of warm-up. What the heck! That's a lack of class on Bowness' part, especially with all the work that went into this.
Anyway, Tufte was healthy, though... But, yeah, it's a business!
