The 2021-2022 season has not been easy for several veterans of the club, including Paul Byron. He played only 27 of the 82 games for his team, accumulating a total of 7 points.
However, it's not that the little number 41 of the CH didn't try. All season long he has been trying to get back into the game, making his injury worse each time. To this day, it seems that he is still not fully recovered from his left hip injury that kept him off the ice for several months.
During his press conference on Saturday, the small forward more or less confirmed it. His hip still seems to be causing him a lot of problems and he will have to go through a process of getting back in shape this summer. This process will be very important, because if he doesn't manage to come back as he wants, Byron will have some big decisions to make on the sidelines of the next training camp.
He mentioned it himself. He does not rule out the possibility of having to retire, unfortunately.
Another file that comes with its share of uncertainties.
Byron will run out of his contract next season, which takes an average of $3.4 million from the club's payroll. Looking at the CH's payroll for the 2022-2023 season, that amount could make a big difference for Kent Hughes. Byron's decision will have a major impact on the future.
