As you know, the Pierre-Luc Dubois saga is now over.
He has been traded to the Los Angeles Kings and he has signed a long-term contract there.
Even though sources claimed that there was a 95% certainty that Dubois would end up with the Canadiens (CH), that didn't happen.
In his first interview in town since the trade, Dubois made some very interesting revelations.
"Pierre-Luc Dubois spoke to us for about ten minutes this morning on 98.5.
"No, the Canadiens didn't make me a formal offer."
"Some teams were offering me more money than the Kings, but they were the ones who wanted me the most."
- Pierre-Luc Dubois"
Dubois also confirmed the rumor that the Montreal Canadiens were on his "short list," but the CH wasn't alone. (contrary to what some thought)
Dubois emphasized one point. He chose the Kings because, in his eyes, they were the team "who wanted him the most."
"No, we never really received anything from the Canadiens [...] We spoke with Montreal, but in the end, it was Los Angeles who was calling and pushing harder." - Pierre-Luc Dubois"
So, he indeed never received a formal offer from Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
After signing an 8-year, $64 million contract in Los Angeles, he plans to settle in either Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach, which are close to his teammates.
