Even though they have two of the best players in the league on their roster, the Edmonton Oilers can't seem to make a significant run in the playoffs. Much like the Toronto Maple Leafs, they struggle to meet the expectations of their fan base.

After winning their first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings in 6 games, the Oilers met the eventual Stanley Cup champions in the second round. As you can guess, they packed up after 6 games.
In a recent appearance on the Sans Restriction podcast, the Oilers' towering defenseman, Vincent Desharnais, recounted what happened in the locker room following their elimination. According to him, the team's captain, Connor McDavid, was in a state that the Quebecer had never seen before. The mega-star's frustration was at its peak!
Desharnais also issued a warning to everyone: we are not ready for what's coming for Connor McDavid next season because he will be so motivated to win the coveted Trophy.
Here's what he had to say:
"The atmosphere in the room was crazy and no one came in. No coaches, nothing. It was just the players and the doors were closed. Connor got up and he spoke... It's the first time I've seen him like this, with so much emotion, so much frustration. And the first thing I thought of when he was talking like that, I swear, woah! Next year, people aren't ready! I swear to you, he's going to break more records! I'm telling you right now, fingers crossed he stays healthy, but I'm telling you, he's going to be NASTY! The coming season, he and Leon [Draisaitl] are going to be nasty!" - Vincent Desharnais

McDavid, coming off a season with 64 goals and 89 assists for a total of 153 points, could therefore be even better. The opposing teams better watch out!
If he surpasses his 2022-23 season harvest again, it could be historic for the NHL and for our generation!
