Jonathan Drouin announces where he wants to play next year
Now that he no longer has a contract for the upcoming season, Jonathan Drouin will have to make a big decision.
While some analysts were sending him to Europe, with the season he just had, not only will Drouin definitely be back in the NHL next year, but he will also be entitled to a nice salary increase.
Drouin, who signed a one-year contract worth $825,000 last summer, collected 56 points in 79 games this season, including 19 goals.
He added 3 points in 3 playoff games and was a point-per-game player for most of the season. He was really excellent.
Contract Finished: Jonathan Drouin Announces His Intentions
Now that Drouin's contract is over, and now that the Avalanche's season is over, many are wondering if he played his last game there, especially because Colorado might have difficulty affording his salary increase.
When asked about this and his future in Colorado, here is his response.
«Obviously, it was a good year for me. I took a step in the right direction in terms of the level of play I want to have. However, I have to give credit to a lot of people here, including the coaches and players. It's a great group full of good players.
This loss will hurt for a few days, but I would really like to come back with the Avalanche next year. I loved my time here, so did my whole family.»
