Sam Girard breaks his silence and reveals the reason why he went to seek help from the player assistance program
Wow. This is a tremendous display of courage.
It's extremely rare to see this, but just minutes after the NHL announced that he is entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, Samuel Girard has already broken the silence to give the reason.
See his brave official statement.
He explains that he needs to take care of his mental health, and he will receive care for severe anxiety and depression, which have also led to alcohol abuse.
We are very proud of Samuel and wish him all the best.
He is a great example for our youth.
