Bad surprise in the Corey Perry saga, and it's going to cost him alot of money
According to what has just been reported, particularly by TVA Sports network, Perry owes a significant amount of money to the Chicago Blackhawks.
We're talking about 1 million dollars here. Ouch.
In fact, according to the current rules, because he played about a quarter of the regular season before his contract was terminated, Perry is entitled to 1 million dollars. (which is a quarter of his 4 million dollar contract)
However, Chicago had already paid him two million dollars, which is 1 million too much, and according to what has just been reported, Perry will have to repay this excess million. (contrary to what had been reported initially)
"The 38-year-old veteran was entitled to receive one of the 4 million dollars from the one-year contract he signed last July. This is explained by the fact that he played about 25% of the season. The problem is that Perry received 2 million dollars, thanks in particular to a signing bonus."
- TVA Sports
Perry has recourse and he can file a grievance through the National Hockey League Players' Association, but otherwise, he will have to give back all this money to his former organization.
Remember that the actions Perry is accused of took place during an event involving sponsors and employees of the Blackhawks. Alcohol is believed to be involved and one person employed by the organization.
