Clearly, things are really not going well for the former Montreal Canadiens forward with the Carolina Hurricanes.

It's unfortunate, but it looks like the end for Jesperi Kotkaniemi there. He needs a fresh start.

Kotkaniemi barely plays anymore

After a slight glimmer of hope, KK has just been demoted to the fourth line of his team.
"Hurricanes lines tonight in Minnesota.

Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen
Bunting - Drury - Necas
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis
Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Fast

Slavin - Burns
Skjei - Pesce
Orlov - Chatfield

Kochetkov"

- Via Walt Ruff

He was dissatisfied with his 13-14 minutes per game when he was with the Montreal Canadiens, but look at his usage in the last games in Carolina. (He has a sad 5 points in his last 41 games)
- 9 minutes 12
- 9 minutes 8
- 9 minutes 55
- 9 minutes 29
- 9 minutes 41
- 13 minutes 34
- 9 minutes 21
- 6 minutes 52 !!!
In short, you get the idea. Moreover, his head coach is increasingly less shy about criticizing him publicly.
Don't be surprised if Kotkaniemi is no longer with the Carolina Hurricanes next year, despite having a contract that's almost impossible to trade.
He earns close to 5 million dollars per year ($4.82M) until 2030, a disastrous contract for the time being.
A situation to follow, but it's really a shame because he seemed truly on his way to becoming a good player, but after nearly 400 games in the NHL, he remains a fourth-line player.
