In the midst of a less than amazing season for the Habs, fans hoped to have one last party as the campaign dwindles. Unfortunately, Bettman isn't on board.

League Cancels Watch Party Event in Montreal

Three of the most prominent groups for fans in Montreal media, Habs Eyes on the Prize, GAME OVER: Montreal, and HabsFanTV, planned a massive watch party for the Canadiens game against the Maple Leafs.

This event was going to feature a raffle of big items, including a reverse retro jersey signed by the entire team:

Set to take place at the Cage Aux Sports restaurant right next to the Bell Centre, it was poised to be a celebration for all fans.

Unfortunately, the league got involved and cancelled it, citing that watch parties of this magnitude (with a small entry fee) were against the rules.

"The NHL shut it down through La Cage, there's not enough time to figure out a way of changing the event to the NHL's satisfaction in order to hold the event.

All fans were refunded their tickets, but the excitement this event brought so many fans cannot be refunded.

Shameful decision by the league.
