If we recall correctly, at the end of the 2022-2023 season, many Montreal Canadiens fans were excited at the prospect of acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois via trade.
The Quebec forward had then declared that he had no intention of continuing his career with the Winnipeg Jets.
Pierre-Luc Dubois confirms discussions with the Montreal Canadiens
As reported by the RDT site, Dubois confirmed the Canadiens' interest during an interview with Mathias Brunet in La Presse, where they discussed several topics.
"We talked a little, but in the hockey world, it's all about timing. It wasn't necessarily the right situation [for both sides], and Los Angeles was pushing a lot.
Los Angeles seemed like the best option because they really wanted me."
Despite the disappointment of some Canadiens fans at the time of the trade announcement, it can be said that Kent Hughes made the right decision, as he would have likely paid a very high price to acquire his services.
After a rather disappointing single year with the Kings, where he only collected 40 points in 82 games, Dubois was traded during the summer to the Washington Capitals in exchange for goaltender Darcy Kuemper, and he will have the chance for a fresh start elsewhere.
