Trade between MTL and WPG involving Mailloux or Barron? Big development emerges
We've just had an interesting development regarding a potential trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets, involving Rutger McGroarty.
His name has been heavily linked to the Habs over the past few days, but nothing has materialized yet.
However, it's far from over.
Trade between the Canadiens and the Jets involving Rutger McGroarty? There are new developments, and it's still a very real possibility
See the exact post.
Engels on McGroarty and the Habs: "I still think it's possible to find a solution and a deal, so if it happens later in the summer and he's still a member of the Jets, it's a name I would watch [for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens]. I still see a 'fit' here for these two teams."
Subsequently, more concrete names were mentioned.
"Is there still hope for a trade bringing Rutger McGroarty to Montreal? Do the Habs really have the assets to finalize a deal with the Jets?
1st CGY/FLA 2025+Justin Barron+?
Or maybe involve Logan Mailloux?" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin The first-round pick is the one the Canadiens received, along with Sean Monahan, in the August 2022 trade with the Calgary Flames (in exchange for future considerations).
So, it's a first-round pick Kent Hughes acquired literally for free.
This could definitely be an interesting avenue to get their hands on the very talented McGroarty.
However, in the case of Logan Mailloux, I wouldn't trade him.
McGroarty, 20, is a 14th overall pick in 2022 (first round). He is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward who amassed an incredible 52 points in 36 games this season in the NCAA.
He played for the University of Michigan and is ready to make the jump to the NHL immediately. He truly has the potential to become a solid top-6 forward very quickly.
Details to follow.
